Introduction
Welcome to Triveni, Aylesbury Durga Puja, where we celebrate the true spirit of love and friendship through the festival of Durga Puja. Our primary objective is to organise and host Durga Puja and other associated festivals in Aylesbury, while also bringing the community together, irrespective of their religion, race, colour or creed.
We firmly believe that festivals like Durga Puja are not just about celebrating religious rituals and traditions, but also about embracing the spirit of camaraderie, unity, and shared values that bind us all together as a community. It is through such festivals that we can overcome our differences and come together as one family, sharing love, laughter, and happiness with each other.
The Significance of Durga Puja
Durga Puja is one of the most significant festivals of the Hindu community, celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm across India and other parts of the world. The festival marks the victory of good over evil, as it commemorates the triumph of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasur.
However, the festival is not just limited to Hindus, as people of all religions and cultures participate in it with great enthusiasm. During the festival, we worship the ten-armed warrior Goddess Durga, who symbolises courage, strength, and determination. We also celebrate the other Gods and Goddesses, including Lakshmi, Saraswati, Ganesh, and Kartikey, who are believed to have played a crucial role in the victory of Durga.
How We Celebrate Durga Puja
At Triveni, Aylesbury Durga Puja, we celebrate Durga Puja with great pomp and splendour, just like it is celebrated in the Indian sub-continent. Our celebrations start with the installation of the idol of Goddess Durga in a beautifully decorated pandal (temporary structure). We then conduct various rituals and prayers, including the recitation of mantras and the offering of flowers, fruits, and sweets.
Our celebrations also include cultural programmes, including music, dance, and drama performances, featuring some of the best artists from the local community. We also organise food stalls, where you can taste some of the most delicious and authentic Indian cuisine, including sweets, savouries, and curries.
Overall, our celebrations are a perfect blend of religion, culture, and entertainment, giving you a glimpse of the rich and diverse Indian culture.
